ASIA CUP 2023 – Dates and Venues Revealed
The Asia Cup 2023 will now be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, thanks to the ACC’s acceptance of the hybrid concept.
Archrivals India and Pakistan will renew their storied rivalry in the next Asia Cup before playing at the greatest stage of them all, the ICC World Cup 2023. The Asia Cup 2023 is planned to take place from August 31st to September 17th. The prestigious competition will be contested in a hybrid format in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The continental cup final will take held on September 17 (Sunday). The Asian Cricket Council has declared that India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal would compete in 13 One Day International (ODI) matches at the Asia Cup. The Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan for four matches, with former winners Sri Lanka hosting nine games.
The event will be staged in a hybrid format, with four matches taking place in Pakistan and the other nine in Sri Lanka. Two clubs from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage in the 2023 edition. “The final will feature the top two teams from the Super Four stage,” the Asian Cricket Council announced in a statement.
The hybrid approach was implemented when the BCCI voiced concerns about traveling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. Previously, Pakistan was awarded the exclusive right to host the continental event.
According to a recent report, the highest cricket body in India decided to enable Lahore to host four non-India teams in the tournament’s opening round. Because of security concerns, India will not travel to Pakistan, according to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who is also the ACC chairman.
The Asia Cup 2023 will be divided into two groups, with only two teams advancing to the Super Four round. The top two teams from the Super Four stage will face off in the Asia Cup final.
The dates and locations for the Asia Cup 2023 have been announced.
We are excited to announce that the Asia Cup 2023 will be held from August 31st to September 17th, 2023, and will include premier teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal competing in a total of 13 enthralling One-Day International (ODI) matches.

The dates and sites for the 2023 Asia Cup have finally been revealed, with the competition slated to take place between August 31 and September 17 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However, no comprehensive timetable has been given.
This will be the first time that a multi-nation tournament has been held in Pakistan since 2008. “I am elated that our hybrid version for the ACC Asia Cup 2023 has been accepted,” said Najam Sethi, chair of the PCB management committee. This means that the PCB will continue to host the event and stage matches in Pakistan with Sri Lanka serving as the neutral venue, as was necessary due to the Indian cricket team’s inability to travel to Pakistan.
Our ardent supporters would have wanted to see the India cricket team play in Pakistan for the first time in 15 years, but we understand the BCCI’s position. Before crossing countries, the BCCI, like the PCB, requires official approval and clearance.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage in the 2023 edition, with India, Pakistan, and Nepal in one group and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in the other. The top two finishers from the Super Four stage will then compete in the final. Matches will be played in a 50-over format in preparation for the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November.
Due to tight political ties between the two nations, India refused to visit Pakistan, prompting the hybrid model to be presented as a solution. As hosts, the PCB was determined to guarantee that at least half of the tournament was played in Pakistan. The UAE was considered a neutral location, however, Bangladesh expressed reservations about the harsh weather in September.
The defending champions are Sri Lanka, albeit the event in 2022 was contested in a 20-over format. The most recent 50-over Asia Cup was held in the UAE in 2018, with India defeating Bangladesh in a dramatic final.
